The Xijen College Tech-Voc Department will open the Hairdressing NC II training program within the school year 2010-2011. The school will partner with Herman Malafu, owner of Erica’s Beauty Parlor. Malafu has been in the hairdressing business for twenty (20) years. Malafu will share his extensive experience in hairdressing to prospective students who plan a career in the beauty business.
The opening of a Hairdressing Course will provide opportunities for young people who cannot afford a college degree. Malafu stressed that learning hairdressing skills provides self-employment opportunities. With this developments, Malafu will head the training program together with other hairdressers who have committed to be in the trainer’s pool.
Xijen College will provide the facilities needed for the training.
This will surely be an avenue for young people to really find means for a living after completing a course certificate. Hair saloons stablishments in the country where I am now is everywhere and the demands of Hairdressers in the city is high.
Once I interviewed a Cordillera friend who is managing a lucrative hair saloon in Barcelona for the past 8 years upto present. He said, ¨kasla metlang daytoy nga mula nga ma-aywanan lang ken awan ti complications na… once you have the passion ket ituloy-tuloy mu la-eng…He continue saying, ¨I also encourage my family members who couldn´t afford to take degree cources to take up Hairdressing mas practical ken promising pay…¨
Good luck Xijen… way to go.
Dear Mam,
Good day!

Now, i have my ” Am,Tm,” and i earned full qualification In TQ level 1 and a AQ level 1. I am from iloilo but presently residing in boracay island where i have my small salon. I am, very much interested to share my skills not only earn but to help to those who could not afford to study in college. We, dont have school here for hairdressing that i am looking for i am willing to teach if possible if there is any vacancy in your school. I wolud like to apply as a trainer Hairdessing and beauty care.
Thanks in advance.
Very respectfully yours,
Amalia A. Vicente
Salamat po Amalia. We will keep in touch as soon as we finish the business survey. The earliest we can set up is during the summer of 2011. It takes some time to file application papers including the approval. My partner is not keen on opening within 2010 because he has just opened a new salon. You are much qualified considering that TESDA requires trainers to be in TQ Level 1 and AQ Level 1. Mean time, here’s what you can do, offer your services to Local Government Units (of Aklan) so they can sponsor a community based training with you as the trainer. Get some more information from your TESDA office in Kalibo (?). Or, you can also register your salon as an industry based training center, TESDA now recognizes that your own salon could serve as a training center- at least that is already hands on. I wish you luck and thank you for your interest. Please do keep in touch through this website.
