E-Learning In Mountain Province?

In 2001, Xijen subscribed to VSAT Technology-Internet access via satellite. There were no Internet Service Providers at that time then.

Since 2004, Xijen Institute of Technology, now Xijen College  implemented an online support learning program.  In this setting, students of Xijen did their exams on any computer connected to the Internet.  Teachers of the school also uploaded their lessons and directed students to legitimate reference materials.  This system was called “BLENDED LEARNING.”  Blended learning was conducting classes through face to face (students learn in a classroom setting) and also online (lessons were also done online).  Online means getting connected to the Internet– today’s fastest means of getting information. It was the dream of Xijen to expand this system and have other students attend classes without being physically present in a classroom.  Today, the dream becomes a reality as more municipalities in Mountain Province have access to the Internet.  Students will submit assignments, work on case studies, participate in class discussions– all these will be done online, without having to travel to Bontoc.
